Holiday Spice Cookies


Sift dry ingredients together;  set aside.  Cream butter and sugar until smoothly blended.  Blend in molasses and eggs. Mix in dry ingredients to form dough.  Refrigerate covered dough at least 1 hour until firm.  Roll out to 1/4" thickness. Cut shapes; transfer to parchment-lined pans.  Bake at 380°F until firm and lightly browned, about 10 to 12 minutes. Cool on racks. Decorate cookies with colored royal icing, sprinkles and candies as desired.
